About HAL

Holston Associated Libraries, Inc. (HAL) is a non-profit consortium of two academic and two public libraries located in the Appalachian highlands of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Consortium members share administrative services; technology and network resources; and an automated library system.

The HAL service area extends from Tazewell, VA, in the northeast, to Bristol, TN, in the southwest. The official service population is 94,000. The extended service population, made possible by reciprocal borrowing agreements with surrounding counties, is 147,857.
